August 5, 2025---The Centre of Excellence in Molecular Biology (CEMB), University of the Punjab, proudly celebrates another milestone of international recognition as one of its PhD scholars, Ms. Tehmeena Akhter, has been honored with the Research Excellence Award by the University of Maryland, Baltimore, USA.
This prestigious award is presented annually by the Department of Otorhinolaryngology—Head and Neck Surgery to acknowledge outstanding contributions by trainees, graduate students, and postdoctoral fellows in the field of biomedical research.
Ms. Tehmeena Akhter, currently serving as a Visiting Research Scholar at the University of Maryland, was recognized for her remarkable work on the molecular biology of neurological disorders. Her dedication, scientific rigor, and innovative research approach have earned her this esteemed accolade for the academic year 2023–2024.
She has been working under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Saima Riazuddin, a distinguished scientist at the University of Maryland and Adjunct Faculty Member at CEMB, who has consistently played a pivotal role in co-mentoring CEMB scholars and fostering their research careers on the international stage.
Notably, Tehmeena is the third PhD scholar from CEMB to receive this international recognition, a testament to the centre’s commitment to excellence in molecular biology and its global impact in cutting-edge research.
